SFSSUP Progress #3

Please do one final report on your contributions to your group's SF Slide Show Update Project. You should include everything you have done since you last reported (you might need to go back and read your previous comment to remind yourself what you already said). If you never have done a progress report, then you need to explain everything you have done since the project began. I would expect this report to include what you contributed to actually producing the presentation.

Since our last project update I hadn't done much until we were getting down to the last two weeks before it was due. So I gathered together the information on hand and sent that to Sheldon because he was the one gathering all the info and pictures so he could put it together on the slide show. I gave him an extensive list of all the major SF movies I could find from that time, and also some links to bios on prominent authors in our era. I also mentioned in my emails books such as Tad Williams Otherland series, and the last books of the Dune series.
The week of the project I went after school with him and Tyler to do some recordings for a number of slides and also add a few more pictures to our photo story.

Since the last SFSSUP progress report I had worked on select slides of the powerpoint and made it the final product that it was. I also read a few stories from Elisson's, "Hard Candy" including the featured story paladin of the last hour. We finished the powerpoint in class and then proceeded to present in class on monday.

From the last project update I have watched a few movies (The Fly, which was about the scientist who invented a way to teleport between two pods and teleports with a fly in the pod with him causing their DNA to splice into one), I also watched Brazil (a movie in which a content middle aged man's life in an extrapolated future time is turned upside down by him seeing the woman who continues to appear in his dreams), and back to the future I, II, and III, where there is a time traveling DeLorean taking the main character back in time and forward in time, the first time by accident the second time to fix a family crisis that would land his whole family in jail and the third time to save Doc who was accidently sent back in time. I also wrote and helped write a few of the slides, the Jurassic Park movie slide, the Back to the future slides, the Doomsday book slide, the Fly slide, and a few others.

Since the last post i have completed many of the movies and books i had previously began. I was not there for the final touches on the powerpoint but i had given sheldon and aubry my researched information. Which included book summaries and movie reviews like for Pitch Black, the matrix, the fly, Dune, hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, etc. However, many of those i researched were not put in the final project.
I thank my group for being able to put all of our information into an excellent project.

Since we started working on the SFSSUP i have read te book Eternity Road by Jack McDevitt, looked up background information on him nad some of his books. i also did research on Kim Stanley Robinson and some of his books. I worked with Kari on the slide show, creating some 9 slides with her. we looked for clips, and after i looked and found nothing better than what we had, decided on that clip. i also found the book American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

Since the last time i finished up gathering up info on the authors. I then turned them into my group. It contained some background info and all the awards for them. I did one extensively for each year within the dates. I didn't get to help with the project because of my job. I contributed with the information and some ideas for the "SFSSUP" project.

For the final SFSSUP product I made majority of the slides, as well as adding our soundtrack and video hyperlink. My other responsibilities include authors Stephen King and Orson Scott Card and researching movies and video games.

For the final project update, I was responsible for finding out a lot of information about video games such as doom and star fox. I had to research Dan Simmons and learned that he was a teacher in Colorado and was a finalist for the Colorado teacher of the year award. His most famous book, Hyperion won a Hugo award along with its sequel the fall of Hyperion which was a finalist for the nebula award. I also researched the movie Ghostbusters and Robo-Cop. I also created slide for all of those topics.

Since our last update I have researched and found a list of all major authors, and their achievements during our decade, I've watched the star wars films again, finished A Clockwork Orange and watched the Terminator. I used these to contribute to our slide show. I created the slide show along with David and Zach, and spent hours working with them to make sure it was completed well. just so you know I had nothing to do with the ending credits/yoda dancing.

Since the last update I have watched the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and researched the author Douglas Adams. TNMT is about four turtles who get into toxic waste and become human-like. They are taught to become ninjas by a man who got into the waste and turned into a rat named Splinter. The turtles have to fight the evil Shredder to restore peace in the city. Douglas Adams is a well known author who is famous for Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Hyperland. For the presentation I created slides for Douglas Adams and for TNMT. Also I researched the video games and history of the decade.

Since my last SFSSUP update i have read more books i read the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. These are two very different books because Hitchhikers guide is a satire that almost makes fun of the science fiction genre and Ender's Game is a very serious extrapolation story. For the actual presentation i helped pool the information that all the other people in my group collected and also I helped with the creation of our movie. I helped pull video clips together and also with the design of our video.
